Shopping and s'More

After that long day yesterday, we all slept in a little.  Tifini wanted to hit this garage sale because they had a LaserJet Color Printer.  She and mom went out and came home with a CuisinArt Ice Cream Maker.  Tif would have gotten the printer, but the man didn't have the cords for it (like the power cord).  Then we stopped by Staples to see if they received any of the HP all-in-ones in their weekly shipment.  They didn't.  Because of the holiday, they won't have anything in until Monday.  Then we went to Goodwill to see if they had any Harry Potter books.  Carson Fairbanks is reading them and he needs a couple to round out the series.  We walked out of Goodwill with a bluetooth ergonomic keyboard.  We went home and realized that no one had gotten what we set out to get...  It was a frustrating morning for us hopeful shoppers.

In our cleaning of the garage yesterday, we found a portable fire pit that Tif bought quite awhile ago.  So guess what we did tonight?  Yep, fire and s'mores!  Tif had been in contact with the man selling the printer, and he found the cords.  So Tif and I went and picked up the printer.  Then we got makings for s'mores!  They had these extra large marshmallows that are a lot of fun.  Then we ran to Home Depot and got a small bundle of firewood.  But before we could get too excited, we had to assemble the fire pit.  That took a little more determination than we realized.  We got half way through assembly and mom called us to dinner - leftover steak.  I could get tired of steak, but I haven't yet...  Then we finished assembling the fire pit with new vigor.  It wasn't quite dark enough or cold enough for a fire, so we tackled some chores.

There is a dry patch on the north lawn, so Tif and I turned on the sprinklers and went out to investigate.  Turns out the adjustable sprinkler head near that spot gradually decreases it's angle of spray.  So instead of being about 180 degrees, it was only getting about 100 degrees.  Tif adjusted the angle and we let the cycle run.  We could replace the head, but it still works... We're thinking maybe a little duct tape will fix it.  Then we took the truck full of garbage from the garage down to the office dumpster.  It barely fit.  But we made it fit.  So nice to get rid of some of that stuff.

Fire time!  For a couple pyros, we had a little trouble getting the fire started.  But we got it, eventually.  We sat out and talked until we had enough of a burn for some s'mores.  The huge marshmallows were delicious!  You only needed one and you were pretty full.

It was a fun night, ending with showers all around.  Can't smell like smoke at church, folks.
