Being a Fast Sunday, our YSA ward has a Break the Fast after the block of meetings. So when I got home, I made a pistachio salad to take. I had a little time, so I indexed a batch of obituaries. Then I had to figure out what to do with my hair. I had enough time, so I tried a french fishtail braid. Keep in mind that I am terrible at fishtail braids. Terrible. But somehow, this one came out okay.
Then it was off to church. My chorister texted me last night and she was in car accident. She is okay, but her car was totaled. She lives in Ephrata, so couldn't make it to our ward today. I got to church a few minutes early and was able to find a willing last minute chorister, luckily. I love singing all the verses of the Star-Spangled Banner, although I could have done better playing it.
My baptism and confirmation date have been wrong on church records for about as long as I can remember. They have the right day, but the wrong year. I've tried to get it changed a few times before. The clerk usually told me, "Oh, I'll fix it. No problem," and then didn't or that I needed to submit at least 2 signed witness statements that affirmed the correct date. Well, thanks to my mother, I finally have the 2 witness statements. And thanks to my awesome Ward Clerk - the church record is now accurate and I have a brand new baptism certificate! It was good to finally get that corrected.
Linger Longer (aka Break the Fast) was roast, mashed potatoes and gravy. It was really good, but the gravy I got was a little sweet... that was odd, but not altogether unappetizing. I chatted with a couple girls at my table for awhile. Then I headed into the chapel. I still hold choir on Linger Longer days if we need the practice, and we do. Well, no one showed up. I was about to leave when a group of people from Royal City asked it we were still doing choir practice. So we had choir practice. I even found one of the girls, Whitney, to play the piano. She sat down and played the piece better that I can, and I had practiced it! I'm grateful for willing pianists. This gives me a chance to be the Choir Director, which is a new, fun and slightly scary experience.
I didn't get home until 5:30p. And by then, my family had given up on me and were taking naps. So I took a nap. Sundays always feel long, and sometimes they feel productive. Thankfully, today was one of the productive ones.
