Conference Saturday! I love these days. Woke up a little early for conference and got out a notebook. This hasn't been something I always do. I try to, but crafts come out and I get distracted. So this time, I promised myself I'd pay attention. And I got a lot more out of the sessions than usual. Between morning and afternoon conference, we went shopping. Stopped at goodwill and JoAnn's. So, I've always loved the idea of book art, like book safes or words folded into a book, etc. But I can't bring myself to deface a book to make these lovely projects. Well, the other day Vaughn and I were talking and he mentioned that he has a friend from college who sells this kind of art on Etsy. I cringed and he explained that this friend feels the same way about books, so she chooses only ones that are destined for the dump or furnace, etc. Then he said something that is going to change my life: Just imagine that they're copies of Twilight. Yep, that was it. All of a sudden, I'm okay with all these book crafts. In fact, it gave me some inspiration. Goodwill always has copies of the Twilight Saga. Always. So I picked up a couple books - now to start with the book crafts! JoAnn's is in their "soft opening", so we stopped by to see what they had available. It's really nice to have a new craft resource.
We were going to pick up dinner from the Tree Cafe, but for some reason they weren't open their regular hours. So we quickly drove back home just in time for the afternoon session of conference. Tifini had these mini pizzas in the freezer, and was gracious enough to share. So that's what we had for lunch. Took lots of notes again during this session. It felt like a powerhouse session, for some reason. And I thought the foreign language translation would bother me, but it doesn't. I think it's pretty cool. Well, after the session, I went and had fun with Mary. We had dinner at Rocktop and then shopped at Hastings. I haven't been there in forever! Mary suggested we go there, mostly because she had seen some fun Doctor Who things there. Yes, I had to restrain myself from buying everything Doctor Who related in the store. But I was a good girl.
While I was out with Mary, Mom and Tifini went back to JoAnn's for a couple things and did some general shopping. Then they came home with Tree Cafe (which had opened late today for some odd reeason.) And while they ate dinner, I worked on a present for Parker's birthday tomorrow. It's been a long day, but a pretty good one.
