Church, Hawaiian Haystacks and War

Over the last week, I put together my choir piece.  It's a mix of "I Know That My Redeemer Lives" and "A Poor Wayfaring Man".  I can hear the piece in my head and it's beautiful.  Hopefully I have a choir to sing it.

In Sacrament meeting today, we were informed that we will be meeting at the Stake Center at 1pm for church now.  They split 6th and 8th ward to create the 11th ward.  Well, those 3 wards use the Nelson Chapel, so the YSA ward is now the fourth ward that will be meeting in the Stake Center.  Don't know how they're arranging the wards for that, but we'll see next week, apparently.  Went to family history class, but I was the only one who showed.  Then we had a combined third hour because it is the 5th Sunday.

After 3rd hour, I went up to the chapel piano and started playing.  I had 2 people show up.  So, my awesome piece is going to be postponed to October (possibly November).  Then I went to Sarah Boyce's for dinner.  She invited the whole ward to her parent's house for Hawaiian Haystacks.  I thought I would be late (because I stayed to see if anyone would show up for choir), but Sarah was just getting there when I was.  We only had 5 people show up, total.  Which is weird, because the words "free" and "food" were mentioned to singles ward.  Usually that combination of words results in a flood of people... Anyway, dinner was delicious.

After dinner we decided to play some card games.  We played a couple rounds of B.S., which I won (because I am an honest soul), and then played Canfield.  So, Canfield is Nertz (or Nurtz?  I don't know how to spell it.  It's a made up word, honestly.)  Each person sets up their own stack of cards (called the canfield) that has to be played in order to win.  The game plays kind of like solitaire and unlike most card games it is not turned based.  Everyone plays wherever they can.  It gets a little hectic, but it's quite fun.  I won the first round of that game.  Then Sarah won the next two.  After that, we switched to Egyptian War.  It's like regular war, but with some extra rules.  And this game takes FOREVER.  Let's just say that I was winning half way through, and it took me another hour to actually win.  Because the only way to win is to get absolutely all the cards.  So my opponents had less than half the deck, but they had to keep trading those cards back and forth for an hour until I finally won.  I headed home after that, because it was almost 8pm and I was tired.  Talked with mom and Tif a little, then headed to bed.
