Lawns, The Giver, Baptisms and Cookie Dough

This is my hair after a temple trip.  I give it a little wash to get rid of the chlorine, and then do two french braids, which then dry overnight.  My hair is quite open to suggestion when it comes to curl, which is awesome.

Woke up early today and mowed the north and east lawns.  Sadly, they were still quite wet from either rain during the night or just normal dew, so I couldn't bag the clippings... Oh well.  But today was forecast to have a high of 85, so I could use the lawn safe weed killer!  I tried to hit the biggest eye-sores first.  Still a lot of weeds, but we'll see if this weed killer works or not.

After I was all done, mom and I went to a matinee of "The Giver".  I wasn't too keen on seeing it.  I haven't read the book, mostly because I've heard really mixed reviews.  But - the movie was amazing!  It is shot in grayscale for the first little while, which I thought was weird, but it turns out really cool.  I don't want to ruin it if you haven't read the book and want to see the movie - which you should.  Just know that it's really good.  Because of the nature of the society there are no curse words, alcohol, smoking or sex scenes, which was refreshing.

After the movie, I got a few things done from my list.  Yes, when I woke up early this morning, I made of list of things I could do today.  Mowing the lawn, spraying weeds, going to the movie, folding laundry, etc.  One of the things was to write Josh via DearElder.com before he left the MTC.  Well, he leaves the MTC on Wednesday.  So I did that today.  I love that he has a blog, also.  Just makes it easier for me to keep up with what's going on and benefit from some of his insights.

The YSA Ward had a baptism tonight.  The elders asked me to play for it, as well as accompany their musical number.  I've played it for them before, so that wasn't too stressful.  I met them to practice at 6:15pm and the baptism wasn't until 7:30pm.  But you know mormon standard time -  most of the missionaries were 15-25 minutes late, and then the baptism got started late too.  We had both the YSA ward and the Spanish Branch there, so some of the speakers gave portions of their talks in Spanish.  It didn't feel like an overly long baptism (considering the main speakers barely spoke for 5 minutes each), but I didn't get home until almost 9pm.

Tif went out to the fair with Amber at about 4pm today.  She came home a little bit after I did and we went to Walmart.  I have an amazing pianist for choir who is literally leaving for college after sacrament meeting.  To thank her, I put together a little gift of some of her favorite candy, and a few of my favorite things.  For some reason, I got really frustrated and snippy in Walmart.  I don't know exactly why... So when we got home I just went downstairs and was going to head to bed.  Well, I had put all my laundry on the bed so I could fold it, but had only gotten about half way through before I had to get ready for the baptism.  Ya, I walked in, saw the bed and just sat on the floor for a few minutes.  Long day and I still had more to do.  Tif came down and talked to me, and I realized that I needed to make the dough for those cookies.  Remember last week?  Ya, not making that mistake again.  I needed to make the dough tonight so that it could chill overnight and I could bake the cookies in the morning.  Well, I went upstairs to get started and mom was almost done making the dough for me.  She had noticed how tired/frustrated I was, so she decided to make the dough herself to surprise me.  I was surprised and am very grateful!
