Tick-lers and Fast Cars

Friday night is movie night!  I usually get a free Redbox rental code today, so we check out new movies.  Tonight I got "Need for Speed" then came home for dinner.  We had Nachos but we used these whole grain chips.  It turned out really good.  And while we watched the movie, we set up tickler files.  I had no idea what these were until mom sat us down and said we were each going to make one.  Apparently, Tickler (read tick-ler, not tickle-r) files consist of 31 files (for each possible day in a month) and 12 different files (for the months).  Then, if a bill comes in the mail that is due October 15th, you put it in the general "October" file.  When October arrives, you take everything out of the general file and put each item into it's corresponding day.  So back with the example, the bill is due on the 15th, so you figure you should put it in the mail about a week or so before that, just to be safe.  You take the bill and put it in the "8th" file.  Then, each day, you pull out that day's file and see what you need to have done that day.  So, we printed out labels for all the days and months, and set to work labeling during the movie.

Speaking of - the movie was pretty good.  It started out a bit hard to follow, but then everything came together.  I was expecting something more like "Fast & Furious", but this was different.  It became quite obvious that it was based on a video game.  But here's the thing - I can't pinpoint why it felt like it was based on a video game...  There were a couple fun plot twists and lots of fast cars.  And that was mostly the evening.
