Cleaning Day

Honestly, I don't know what's gotten into me.

I must have worked out harder than I thought last night, because I could not get out of bed this morning.  My alarm rang, mom called my cell phone, nothing was doing it.  When I did finally wake up enough to realize the time (about 9:45-10am), Mom was already dressed and heading out the door.    I called her and said that I would get dressed and come down, but she said that she was already dressed and she needed to do a few things at the office anyway.  Well, you know me, I'm not one to turn down a day off!

So, I decided that if I had the day off (or at least the morning), I'd get my laundry done.  And I did get it all done, which is unusual.  When mom got home for lunch, I told her that I could go to work in the afternoon if she wanted.  Then she gave me a deal:  if I could do something productive to make my life better/happier, she would be glad to work the afternoon.  So I stayed home and did something productive.

I started by pulling clothes I don't wear out of my closet.  Those went into a white garbage sack destined for the clinic.  Then I cleared off my flat surfaces (desk, dresser, floor) into buckets and took them out to the family room.  I put in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and got to work.  Most of this "cleaning" was just grouping like items together.  All my papers went in one bucket, beauty products in a smaller one, hair accessories in another, etc, etc.  By the time Mom and Tif got home from work, I had almost completely sorted through everything that was out in the room.  Mom went and picked up KFC $5 meals for dinner, and I started putting back things that already had a home (like my hair accessories and electronics).  Then we ate dinner, and a little after 7pm, Mom got a phone call.  She had a Relief Society meeting that started at 7.  So mom went up to her meeting.

Meanwhile, Tif and I cleaned out the filing cabinets that support my desk.  They were full of (mostly) dad's things like receipts and violin music.  We very carefully moved everything into containers for mom to sort through.  We had several nostalgic moments, one of which involved the old NES and Princess Tomato...  I love that game.  We were able to identify Dad's handwriting, as well as Tif's and mine with information relating to Princess Tomato.  Oh, those were good times...

Well, after that project was done, we went out to Walmart for a few things, to reward ourselves for being awesome.  Really, we deserve it.  Then it was back home, and I got to sleep in my freshly and completely cleaned room.  Now I just have to maintain it.  Pray for me.
