Friday the 13th!

Friday the 13th - also known as a regular friday in the Fairbanks household.  Not much happened today.  Work, home for lunch, back to work, grabbed a rice bowl from safeway and watched a movie. I'm having fun reading again, mostly getting books from Goodwill or the library.  I've been reading books by this one author, Melanie Dickerson.  They are interesting stories.  She's a Christian writer, and she is not only Christian, she is VERY Christian.  They are set in Medieval Europe, and are fairy tales retold.  So, the writing is a little tiring because Mrs. Dickerson uses the same exact plot devices in every book.  I've read 3 so far, and she has 4 out.  I just checked the last one out from the library.  So I have a list of things I expect to find in the novel.  Some of them include:  the romantic interest having an injury attended to by our heroine, the antagonist being not even remotely religious (either that or strongly anti-religious), the heroine being able to read/quote the bible and everything working out despite insurmountable obstacles because of the protagonist(s) trust in God.  While none of these things are bad, each of these has happened in the previous books.  At this point, I'm reading them solely for the reworking of the fairy tale.  And I have to be honest, that is pretty interesting.  But I'm a nerd and really like thinking about fairy tales from a different point of view.
(Left:  Snow White,   Right:  Cinderella.     Ya, they weren't too subtle with the covers.)

But that's about all I've got going.
